Hi there
I'm got a bit of a serious problem with a userform built in Word. There's
quite a lot going on with the form and the final file is 942kb. I've got an
autoopen macro to run when the file is opened to open the userform and, for
me it is fine but some users are experiencing serious problems - they're
receiving the "Word has encountered an error and needs to close" message.

Now, regarding the autoopen macro, I've tried both opening the form itself
(frmWritingGrid.Show) as well as assigning the form to an object and opening
that. However, the same result is experienced.

The file is actually on the web to download and it's working for some people,
but I gotta get this problem fixed immediately so any help would be greatly
appreciated. Here's where the file is on the web to download:

Many thanks in advance

Hi Richard,

If you've done a lot of editing of the VBA then it is likely that you are
suffering from a touch of template bloat, which can cause seemingly random
crashes even through there is nothing wrong with the code.

Take a look here for a cure.

Thank you for the tip Jonathan, I haven't been able to get the users to test
it yet, but one thing I did notice is that after following the short
procedure in the link you gave me (export all, save, import all, compile,
save) the file actually increased in size rather decreased! (from 942kb to 1,
164kb). It is not a template, if that has any bearing.

I will post here the result of the user test tomorrow (UK).

regards,
Richard
