vCalendar file falling over on Reminder data

Alex Burman

I am currently sent Calendar events by email from Outlook 2002. I receive
them as attachements in Lotus Notes which I then detach and try to open in
Outlook 2000. However, if the event has the Alarm/Reminder set, it will not
open and gives an error:

"Cannot import vCalendar file. Could not complete operation. One or more
parameter vcalues are not valid."

I have found that if I edit the data and remove the reminder field, I can
open the file fine. Here is an example of what I delete:

BEGIN:VALARM
ACTION:DISPLAY
DESCRIPTION:REMINDER
TRIGGER;RELATED=START:pT00H15M00S
END:VALARM

Can anyone tell me why this happens and if there is a way around it, apart
from editing every vCalendar file?

Regards, Alex

Known problem. Either leave out the reminder or call Microsoft support to get the Outlook 2000 hotfix that is supposed to take care of this incompatibility.

Is this hotfix available as a download. If so, does anyone have the link?
