You don't mention which version Word you are using, this is very useful when
trying to find a solution.
In the Drawing toolbar, click on the Insert Diagram or Organisation Chart
icon, Venn diagram is in the middle on the bottom row, select this an click
OK.

On the Diagram toolbar, click to open the Layout menu, then click to turn
Auto Layout off. You will then be able to move the shapes (including the
text boxes) independently.
