Vertical Alignment of Text in Word

Does anyone know how to enable the vertical alignment of
text function in Word? Mine is grayed out.

There are several vertical alignment settings:

1. On the Layout tab of Page Setup, you can set the vertical alignment of
the page (Top, Center, Justified, Bottom) for a given document or section.

2. If you are in a table, you can set the vertical alignment of text in a
given cell (Top, Center, Bottom). This is *not* available in text boxes.

3. There is also a Text Direction setting in tables, text boxes, and frames
that allows you to rotate text a quarter turn right or left.
