vertical lines

Does anyone know how to insert a 'z rule line' in a word document? When
there's extra blank space on a page and you want to fill it it in with a
large 'Z' .

In Word 2003 or earlier, double-click the line tool on the Drawing toolbar;
in Word 2007 or 2010, right-clock the line tool (on the Insert ribbon, on
the Shapes button). That keeps the line tool selected until you press Esc to
turn it off. Then draw three lines to make the Z. Hold the Shift key while
drawing the top and bottom lines to make them exactly horizontal.
