Vertical spacing between the Headings

raj

I have Heading1 with 24points before and 12 points after spacing
and Heading2 with 16points before and 12 points after spacing

When Heading 2 follows Heading 1 immediatly, the vertical spacing between these two is too wide(12 + 16points). In this situation, how can i automatically set the Heading 2 before spacing to just 16pt.

In Word 2000 and above versions, i OFF "Don't use HTML paragraph auto spacing" option and it works fine. But the space is still too wide for word 97.

Thanks in advance

Hi Raj

Maybe turn the problem around the other way. Create the spacing you want in
Word 97. For example, Heading 1 with 24 and 0. Heading 2 with 16 and 12.

Then, *tick* the compatibility option "Don't use HTML paragraph auto
spacing".

If you tick that box, Word 2000 and later will behave like Word 97. That is,
the spacing between paragraphs will be the sum of the Space After of the
first paragraph and the Space Before of the second paragraph.

If you un-tick that box, then Word 2000 and later collapse the space between
paragraphs.

By the way, compatibility options are document-specific. Changing this in
one document does not affect other documents.

Hope this helps.
