Very basic - Which program to use to alphabatize a list of names?

I have composed a list of names in random order of receiving them. I
dont know how to add names as they come in so that they are in alphabetical
order.
what program should I be putting this list in so I can maintain a
alphabetical list?

It all depends on what you want to do with the list of names. Word and Excel
are quite capable of alphabetizing lists. In Word, select the list of names
and choose Table - Sort. The list doesn't have to be in a table for this to
work.
