Very large website

I have a website that is taking up over 400 mg on the
server. My ISP says that most of the space is being used
by some hidden files in some of the directories. I will
getting more details on this later but I thought I might
ask if there are files (possibly log files) that can be
deleted to make more space? Is there any "clean up"
procedure that I should be doing to keep the size of my
web under control. I am using FrontPage 2000.

The FP hidden files are small and not your issue
You will have to open your site online and use Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks and View Reports to see what files are taking all the
space - usually media files
- if it's log files contact your host about deleting them

It may very well be your log files, they are usually kept out of the Front
Page directory so not accessable through FP and they will grow quite large
after time. If you can ftp into your account you may have access to your log
files in an upper level directory above your wwwroot, check with your host
for details. I usually delete old log files and just keep the current set
and last months.
