Very slow opening documents

In Word X, documents now open very slowly, sometimes up to 2 minutes for
a very small, text only document.

This started to happen after I installed Adobe Acrobat. I am not sure if this
is related.

It could well be. DO you have the Acrobat plug-in/tollbar enabled ???
DIsabling it might fix this problem. You can still flash PDFs through
the Print menu.
To disable the plug-in, remove it from Microsoft Office
X/Office/Startup/Word.

Taking out the plug in worked.
