Very slow opening mail merge documents

I have raised this before and wrongly thought I had solved it.

I have a database on a peer to peer network with command buttons to open
mail merge documents. The first button works OK, but the other ones are
extremely slow, even though the only difference is that they are opening
different documents in the same folder. Word slowly reads the records in the
entire database twice before opening the document.

Sometimes copying the database to a new folder solves the problem, sometimes
cancelling sharing the folder with the other computer, but it always comes
back. Any suggestions?

First, do you have a correct setup for multi-user?

You need to split your database for correct operation.

Thanks for your help. I have split the database and it seems to have solved
the problem of keeping losing connection to references on the second
computer. I will look further at the slowness problem when I get back from
holiday.
