Video blanking

I have a problem sometimes when i launch outlook 2003 , my
video screen goes blank and i have to reset my laptop.
what would be causing this problem. I have tried to repair
and detect many times and have even reformatted and
reinstalled my os xp pro and then outlook 2003 and still
having the same problem.. Any help is greatly appreciated
and need.

Specify blank; you see th eapplication hang, the screen turn off...?
What is logged to the Event Viewer? Updated you're videocard driver already?

The monitor turns off like you shut down the computer.
everything i try does not turn the monitor back on except
when i reboot my computer. Yes i have updated the video
drivers and even tried to roll back the video driver to
see if that helps. nothing. as far as the application
hanging, i have no idea for i can not tell cause the
screen goes black. I will do a search of event viewer and
see what comes up.

Does it still happen when you configure your screen with a different
resolution, refresh rate and color depth?
