video files for powerpoint

What video files does PP XP support. I've tried to put
mpeg into it, but they do not work, whilst they work in
media player.
The same video files work fine on my laptop which is also
Windows XP. I dont understand this. The codec must be
different. What can I do.

Look also at the pathname ... when it's too long, powerpoint won't execute
it. Put your files in a map with only three subdirectories or so ...
C://program files/microsoft office/My music ...
it did solve my problem with avi-files ...
