View Header by Default

By default, the header and footer are visible on the screen in Word
2003. Somehow, I have hidden them and have to choose View > Header
and Footer every time I start Word. I've done this before and have
restored the default view, but this time for the life of me I cannot
remember how to restore this.

Help?

Word 2003 on Windows XP.

Well isn't that something. White Space was toggled ON, so I guess
that was throwing me. But your suggestion caused me to think to
toggle it off, File > Exit, restart, then toggle it back on and
repeat.

Bingo! Go figure.

Once you have used View | Header and Footer, then it *will* be toggled on;
why Word hadn't already saved that setting, I don't know.

Could be my installation has gotten corrupted somehow, but this isn't
the first time it has happened.
