View new mail from system tray

I use Microsoft Outlook to view and manage my mail and I was wondering if there is any way I can set something up so that I can see what I have new mail even when Outlook is not open. (Maybe so it shows on the Taskbar or System Tray) If this isn't possible, is there any mail program that you can do this with? Thanks a lot in advance
