I want to view the data tables that sit behind a database and its forms how
do i do this?

Locate the databased containing the tables, and open it with Access. If it's protected by a password or ULS, then you'll
need a valid username/password to do this.

i open it up but it is looking at forms and menus i want to look at the
tables that sit behind?

It may be that the database window is being hidden on startup, try holding
the shift key while opening the database.

As noted downthread, it depends on how much effort the developer went to to
conceal this information. If they just did the simple things, try pressing the
F11 key to open the Database window; or hold down the Shift key while opening
the database. It may be that neither works - if that's the case, talk to the
developer. It would probably in fact be a good idea to START by talking to the
developer - he or she may be eager to boast about their clever design to an
interested student!

I have a similar problem.. I designed the database and forms in Access 97.
Since I upgraded to 2000, F11 doesn't work... Is there any other way to do
this?

Check the Tools... Startup settings on the menu. Is the "Allow Special Keys"
checkbox selected? If not, it will turn off F11.

Does opening with the Shift key let you see the database window? or is that
turned off too?

I actually just figured it out.... I opened Microsoft Access, then opened the
database and the form view toolbar was there, and F11 worked... Weird, that
if I just opened the database it wouldn't work.. I am thinking that a program
that I utilize that is based in Access, must have interfered with it...
