viewing data

I'm not sure I'm going to make sense with this question, but here it goes:

I have a spreadsheet with data on multiple subjects for multiple people. Is
there a way to freeze the window, or split the document, in multiple places
so I can see each subject and scroll through the names within each subject?

Click Window in the menu and a select New Window. I opens another copy of
the workbook and assigns the window the filename followed by a colon plus an
incremental number. Repeat as needed until you have all windows accounted
for. You can then set each window to view a different worksheet, or the same
worksheet in 2 different windows showing two different areas.

When done, click the Close Window button on the right side of the menu bar.
Repeat for each window.

Hope this helps

Data > Filter . Autofilter then select the subject from the dropdown list.

It sounds like you want to freeze the panes with the names in column A and
your data in columns B through whatever. Assuming you have a header row in
row 1 and your names in column A, position your cursor in cell B2 and click
Window - Freeze Panes. Now you can scroll right to your heart's content (it
is, after all, Valentine's Day), and your names will continue to show in the
leftmost column.
