Viewing date data short vs general format

I have a date field in my table that defaults to the current date and time in
the general date format. The date shows up as short date though. How can I go
in and see the general date information.

(I am wanting to see the time difference on two entries).

It has been a long time since I set up the table so I can't remember how I
even managed to have the data save in general but show in short date. Or
maybe my problem is that the format of the field says general date but is
really only saving short date.

In design view of the table each field has a Format property. That is what
controls how dates appear.

The format property is set to "General date" which should include a time, but
when I view the table only the date shows.
