views and session manager problems

D

David Steyn

We are in the process of rolling out Project Server 2003 for a large
customer in South Africa.

The server configuration is as follows:

Server 1 (SQL & Analysis)

Windows Server 2003

SQL 2000 SP3

SQL Analysis Services SP3

Server 2 (Windows SharePoint Services)

Windows Server 2003

Windows SharePoint Server

Server 3 (Project Server 2003 Front End)

Windows Server 2003

Project Server 2003 Front end components

SQL Decision Support Objects SP3

Server 4 (Project Server 2003 Views & Session)

Windows Server 2003

Project Server 2003 Views & Session Manager

SQL Decision Support Objects SP3

All servers are on same domain

Using single domain user for authentication

Installation procedure according to Microsoft supplied documentation

Installations are being conducted as local administrator on each server

Problem:

Installation of views and session manager on Server 4 is successful; Project
Server database is created successfully.

On installing front end service on server 3, the installation accepts the
name of the server running the views and session manager service, upon
specifying connection information to views share "viewdrop" the error
username and or password is invalid is generated. The user specified during
this part of the installation is a domain user account, has required
permissions on views share and can browse directly to the share using the
same credentials inputted during the installation procedure.

The username and password causing the error may be a service account that is used to connect to the views, not the session login on the machine.
