Views - grouping and sorting

I do not 'get it' as far as customizing groupings on views
(admin, modify a view). I was hoping that grouping would
supply this. I customized a grouping then applied it to a
view, but I see no effect. How do I set up a view so a
grouping will affect it?

How can I apply a global sort to a view? For instance, I
want it to list non-active resources first, then active

If you're talking about customizing grouping formats in Project Web Access,
this feature simply determines the cell color, fill style and font styles of
the views you create. In Project Server 2002, you apply the grouping when
you're actually using the view. Sorting works the same way. The system will
remember the grouping you applied and show it to you that way the next time
you logon, but this can't be preset in view build process. This feature has
been added to 2003.
