Views - Keeping

I have some users that go into a view, move around the columns to be in the
order of their liking. This is fine. In some cases they can use the "save
link" but when they can't do it - how can we make it so that the column order
stays the same? In other words, if a user wants the finish date before the
start date in the task view, is there not any way for them to log off and
then later when they log back in for that order of columns to be the same?

If you are talking about the View My Tasks page, the system retains the
order of the columns for each user. If you are talking about the Updates
page, it does not. Let us know if those are the PWA pages to which you
refer.

Hmmm...maybe that is the issue after all. The "View My Tasks" page is one
that they complain about. But, sometimes, a user says that 'it works for me'
but I wonder if they are talking about a different view.

So, do I understand you correctly that it doesn't matter what the user does
to the columns in the Tasks page - it will always reset?

No, if a user moves columns around in the View My Tasks page, the order of
the columns remains the way the user selected them. This includes other
settings as well, such as column widths, sorting, etc. The system does not
reset the columns back to their defaults when the user returns to the View
My Tasks page again.

The nice thing is that a user can set up the columns in the order he/she
wishes to see them on almost any PWA page, and when he/she returns to PWA,
the columns are as he/she left them. This is how the system is intended to
work.

If a user is complaining to you that the system won't "hold" those column
settings, then you may need to sit down with them, ask them to change the
arrangement, exit IE, and then return to PWA to confirm the settings are
either retained or are reset. Let us know what you find out.
