Each time I open a file my computer does a virus scan. This takes time.
How do I disable this function?

What does the help for your virus scanning software say to do to set
this configuration? Office doesn't do this.

Office does not have a virus scanning function built in. If
you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the Office
Plugin that comes with it. See
