Norton and Symantec both have anti-virus products that will clean up
w97, as long as they are run with Word closed.
What does "nothing seems to work" mean? What have you tried?
Also, "permanently" is a loaded term - unless you scan every file
you receive with up-to-date anti-virus definitions, you can get
reinfected over and over again.
