Visio 2000. freezes when processing pages during file opening

We have visio 2000. using on a xp machine (sp1). the
problem is that i can open visio and create a
file/chart.. now when save and try to open at a later
time, it freezes when opening as its processing pages.
is there a fix or update that i am missing, or is visio
2000 just not compatable with windows xp.

by "freezes" do you mean it hangs and never comes back, or just takes an
amount of time you consider to be unacceptable?
