Visio 2000 & MyODBC

I'm trying to create a database model diagram using Visio 2000 SP2 from a
MDK 10.1 running MySQL 4.x.

From WinXP SP1, I have successfully configured a data source using MySQL
ODBC 3.51 driver. I can browse the database names and clicking Test reports
"Success; connection was made!"

I'm now attempting to create a database model diagram and running into a
problem w/Visio 2000.

Here's what hasn't work:

1) open a new drawing type using the Database Model Diagram template
2) select Reverse Engineer from Database menu
3) select ODBC Generic Driver and MyODBC as the data source; click Next
4) from the "Connect Data Source" dialog, Data Source defaults to MyODBC
5) after entering the user and password, Visio 2000 is inaccessible. Not
locked up, but clicking anywhere in the app window will sound a system tone.

Does anyone know how to successfully configure Visio 2000 to generate
database model diagram.

Thanks in advance.
