Visio 2002 - 1 out of 4 saves crashes

C

ChrisL

Setup:
Visio 2002 (10.0.525.4)
XP (fully up to date with services packs and updates)
1G RAM

Problem:
Saving a document frequently causes Visio to crash, producing the error
log below.
For a long time this worked without problem, but recently Visio has
become very unreliable (1 out of 4 saves causes a crash).
Removing/reinstalling hasn't improved the situation.

Hi Chris,

Build 525 is the original RTM release of Visio 2002. The offset lands into
a function that has changed for Service Release 1. Changes to that function
appeaars to have addressed the handling of some third party stencils that
had what Visio felt was "corruption".

It may not help; however I would upgrade to Service Release 1. I believe
that you can download it from the OfficeUpdate website.

1. Browse to http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate
2. Click on Office XP
3. Under Visio 2002, select "Updates"

While you're at it, you might as well help to protect your system with patch
KB822212.

Cheers,

Frank Tag
