Visio 2002 connectors, add another elbow?

I just posted but can't seem to find my post??

I figured out my arrow question, but still open, and to rephrase my
question. When adding a connector, how can I add another elbow?
somehow, I was able to do it by accident, but can't seem to replicate.
I'm talking about the green little diamond. Also, should I first
connect both object, and then worry about adding turns as needed? My
problem is as I attempt to do that connectors sometimes disconnect if
I don't have an elbow.

Also, how can I change connector path, without it dislodging from the
object it's attached to?
