Visio 2002 Out of Memory

Kate

We are running Visio 2002, and I have a couple of users experiencing
problems where they get an Out of Memory error.

Problem One:

When going to File; Open and clicking on History, the user gets an
error about being out of memory, and he then gets stuck in a loop,
and is unable to get out of Visio.

Problem Two:

The user has created a Visio diagram and is trying to put it into a
Publisher document. She can paste the diagram, but when she tries to
resize the image or rotate it, she gets the Out of Memory error - this
also occurs if she tries to resize it within Visio 2002 before copying
it to the Publisher document.

The servers running Visio should have plenty of spare memory, and this
is only affecting certain users.

Any ideas/fixes gratefully received.

Ta,
Kate

"The servers running Visio should have plenty of spare memory, and this
is only affecting certain users." Are you running this via Citrix/RDP? Then
the problem would appear to be in the amount of memory/resources being
allocated on the server to the users...

Did this issue ever get resolved, as one of our users is having the same
problem when using the history tab.

Can more specific instructions can be given for a resolution?

they never came back with the environment they are working in...
There are several issues here, first is it really on a workstation or is it
a citrix problem, second what fix packages are on visio, third whats the
operating system it's installed on, etc. etc. etc.
Out of memory is something you often here when the workstation has run out
of resources (page file, real memory).

Thanks for your reply.

Just to confirm that I and trying to solve the following error message:

"An unexpected error occurred: Not enough memory available to complete the
operation. Close other programs to make more memory available, and then try
again."

This message happens when accessing the file - open - history tab in Visio.
It doesn't always occur straight away, but if you click on a visible folder,
and then back on the history tab a number of times, the error will occur.

We are working in a windows 2000 server citrix environment. I have seen
this failure in a number of scenarios now - via citrix desktop, via RDP
connection, and also (most importantly) when logged directly onto the server.

Platform/Software details are:

Windows 2000 sp 4
4 x 2.4ghz processors
4gb RAM
4090mb page file

Visio 2002 sp2

I have monitored the server as the appliction has crashed, and there is
still plenty of memory avaialble.
I have also accessed history through other office applications e.g. Word
(select all files), and have not seen the same probelm.
I am beginning to think that it is a bug.
