Visio 2003 Installation problme

Installing Visio 2003 on my Laptop I'm getting a failure with the following
message.
"This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application
vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."
I've done all the Technet suggestions (re-installed Windows installer, Run
Windows Install Cleanup, Searched drives for rogue MSI files) and I'm now
out of options. Laptop is Acer 4051 1.5Ghz 496Mram 50Gig HDspare XP Pro sp2
with all up to date patches. I've uninstalled and re-installed Office2k3 and
patches SPs

Sounds like you've done the basic troubleshooting of that type of issue.
I'd recommend that you open support at 800-MICROSOFT or
http://support.microsoft.com/oas to have a support engineer take a look at
this.
