Hi Mark,
Say you have two intersecting lines whereby on the left side you have the
smaller open rectangle and on the right side you have the bigger open
rectangle.
Now lay two new lines over the lines of the smaller rectangle
click on shape/operations/trim
remove all the lines of the smaller rectangle
select the remaining lines
click on shape/operations/combine
Result: the bigger open rectangle now forms a square corner
