Visio 2007 and Excel 2003

Can Visio 2007 link with data in Excel 2003 files, or do you need to have
Excel 2007? If this is possible, are there any known issues using Visio 2007
on the same computer as office and outlook 2003, i.e. are there any issues
with Microsoft common shared files or issues with security patches
conflicting? We are not going to be upgrading to Office/Outlook 2007 until
the end of 2009. The computer is running Windows XP SP2.

I guess the first question to be asked is what do you mean by link data to
xls2003. vis2007 with recordsets uses an adodb call that I don't know if it
is compatible with xls2003. Datarecordsets is a Professional version feature
only. vis2007 should be able to use the database wizard with xls2003. There
is a very big difference in the two scenarios (the recordset has a lot more
functionality).
AFAIK there aren't any patch compatibility issues.

Al, you're making it more complicated than it is. Visio 2007 can link with
data in Excel 2003 files (*.XLS extension) and Excel 2007 files (*.XLSX
extension). There should be no issues running Visio 2007 with Office 2003.
