Visio 2007 Bug - Format Painter

T

There is a bug in 2007, somehow involved with format painter and/or
conversion from Visio 2002.

I have a drawing that was converted from Visio 2002 to Visio 2007. If I do
a Ctrl-a, Ctrl-c (select all ... copy ...), everything is fine. If I use the
format painter and copy a format from one object to another, then repeat the
action (Ctrl-a Ctrl-c), then I get the following error dialog:

-----
Visio internal error: #-1
Action 1021: Copy

First try closing and reopening the file. Next try restarting Visio.
-----

Obviously i tried the suggested actions and i still have the problem. There
is also no reference that i can find online to this problem.

If anyone has any suggestions and/or fixes, please let me know! This is a
large drawing which i don't want to start over creating it from scratch.

Thanks

I've seen similar problems when a shape in the diagram has a minor data
corruption. If you still have Visio 2002, one thing you might try is saving
out to Visio's XML format. Then open that diagram in Visio 2007. Visio
performs validation of the document when reading in XML and may be able to
clean up any problems. Bear in mind this is one possible diagnosis.
