Visio 2007 Dynamic Connector reroutes

Andy

I have an automated Visio application for an electrical network, my
application operates in 2 modes. Run mode, where the layers are
locked, control handles etc turned off and edit mode where the layers
are unlocked, connection points visible etc.

My application works fine with Visio 2003. However, running this on
Visio 2007 when the diagram is started a few of the right angle
dynamic connectors appear as straight diagnoal lines between the
connection points. If my application then unlocks the layers etc the
dynamic connectors are then correctly drawn as right angles. If my
application then changes back to run mode, locking layers etc these
dynamic connectors remain as right-angles. That is until the diagram
is closed and reopened, when again the same few dynamic connectors are
drawn straight.

Currently I have modified my application to change the routing
behaviour for the dynamic connectors to freely when in edit mode and
never when in run mode.

This seems to be a Visio bug when the diagram is opened. If I disable
my automation and open the diagram then the dynamic connectors are not
rerouted. It seems strange that if Visio is doing some suprious
rerouting, that the dynamic connector is not drawn as a right angle
connector. Visio still seems to believe the dynamic connector has a
right-angle style.

I have no helpful information to provide on this one, except to mention that
this is not the first report I've seen of the problem. Hopefully we can
track this issue down and correct it in the future.
