Visio 2007 Glue Points

R

rickmcneely

I have been using Visio for years. Since before it was a Microsoft
product, and I've never run into this problem before. I just switched
to Visio 2007 (Running on XP). I created some shapes and added glue
points at the appropriate locations. I started running connectors
between shapes/gluepoints and noticed that they aren't binding
appropriately. If I move the shape the connector doesn't follow.
Also, the glue point doesn't turn red when dropping the end of the
connector, as in earlier versions, although the help says they should.

I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Rick,

Maybe Glue is turned off? Go to Tools > Snap & Glue and see if Glue is
checked. There's also a Snap & Glue toolbar...

Or I wonder if you're "suffering" from Visio's Dynamic Glue feature?
When you select a connector, do you see a little X or + in the red
handles, or just a big, blank red rectangle?

If no X or +, then you have Dynamic Glue, which will wander to any side
of your shape. Then you have to actually drag the connector end to the
connection point.

Hi Rick,

This feature seems to have disappeared from the View > Zoom > Zoom...
sub-menu.

That said, you might try horsing with the registry settings.

First, you need to get Visio to put all of its settings in the registry.
You do this via:

Tools > Options > Advanced. There's a checkbox there: "Put all settings
in Windows registry"

Then, have a look at this article on Visio's settings:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298739/EN-US/

Look for "TextAutoZoomFontSize"

I don't think this will help. The feature seems to have changed from
olderversions, where text edit would zoom all the time, unless you
unchecked it.

Frustrating!!!
