Visio 2007 has Limited Functionality

I have Visio Professional 2007 (12.0.6300.5000) SP1 loaded but it seems to
have limited functionality. For example, I can open or create a drawing from
the "Getting Started with Microsoft Office Visio" screen, but after that I
cannot do a "save as" or cannot add a page. The "file" pulldown only has
"save".

What's even more frustraiting is that I can only save the drawing and if I
close the drawing without closing Visio, I cannot do anything else. The only
way to continue is to close Visio and then restart it and create a new
drawing or open an existing one.

I loaded Visio from our company MSDN set and it is fully registered and
activated. But i also have products from Acoutec (Engineering Base) and
Echelon (LonMaker) that use Visio as a component of their software packages.
I don't know if either of these packages is causing Visio to have limit
functionality or if I am just doing something wrong. As you might assume, I
am very new to using Visio.

Thanks in advance!

Dave were you logged on as the administrator for the computer when you
installed Visio? Where there any error messages during the installation? If
the installation worked without any issues you may want to try to isolate the
cause. If you have access to all the software and can install applications on
the box you could remove Visio and the two applications you mentioned. Before
you start the installation make sure you disable any third party applications
such as anti-virus programs. First install Visio and see if it functions as
designed. If it works properly install one of the other applications then
test Visio again. Then finally install the last application and see how Visio
behaviors.
