Visio 2007 Pro Startup Problem

Whenever I run V2007 it starts up but then... Immediately after it has
started every installer program I have ever run for any other programs
is launched. This includes programs that are no longer installed.

I'm running it on WinXP (fully updated)

V2007Pro was installed as an upgrade to V2002Pro. Uninstalling it,
reinstalling it 2002 and then re upgrading to 2007 didn't fix the
problem. The Office 2007 diagnostics don't find any problems. I have
run CCleaner but the problem occurs after this as well.

Anyone got any other ideas where to look?

Thanks

One area to check is the startup path. Check under Tools > Options >
Advanced tab > File Paths.
Do you have anything defined for "Start-up" path? If so, try removing the
location (note it so you can add back later if needed).

Then close Visio (all open windows, if multiple), and launch Visio using
the installed shortcut (not a saved on on your desktop or quick launch
bar).
If this opens Visio cleanly, then you can test your normal icon on the
desktop or quick launch (if any).
Then try launching Visio by double-clicking on a drawing.
Finally, add the start-up path back in.

If you find that a copied/created shortcut is part of the issue, you can
re-copy the one that is installed in the Microsoft Office folder under
Programs. If the issue is the Start-up path, you can research what else is
located in that folder, or which third-party add-ons you have installed
that may contribute to the problem.

Hope that helps.
