Visio Crashes when formatting text in a diagram

Every time i create a diagram for work, and try to format the text to change
the color, font, or size, Visio crashes and i lose all of my work....

Any ideas?

Does the crash occur before, during or after the text format dialog
box is displayed?
If you can get the text dialog the does it occur with both the Apply
and OK buttons?
Can you select a different font or size?

as it opens, it freezes and crashes

The place to start would be the Event viewer, check for any activity
relating to Visio. Could you provide more details such as the operating
system and version of Visio along with the service pack level? Does the issue
occur with any new drawing or with specific ones? I have seen this behavior
with Visio 2003 because for some reason it was missing system file
C:\Windows\WindowsShell.Manifest. Note this is an operating system related
file.
