Hi Steve,

What version of Word and Visio (including updates)?

If you use Edit=>Paste Special in Word what format
is being pasted?

Does the text show in Print Preview?

If you save the drawing from Visio and then
use Insert=>Picture=>From File in Word does
it make a difference?

I have the same problem. Fonts appear white, regardless
of whether I create a PDF file from word, print to a
networked printer, etc.

Print preview is fine.

Only visio objects have this problem, and visio objects
work fine in powerpoint, so its just the visio->word that
is the problem.

Office 2002 pro. SP-2.
XP Pro. SP-1, fully updated.
Visio 2002 pro. SP-1.
PC - brand new DELL, with XP pre-installed. One week old.

Hi Doug,

What was the result of the alternate approaches
mentioned in the post you replied to?

Would it be possible to mail a small sample (to me, not the group) and the
associated Visio document.
I have tried to reproduce this problem and failed. It might help to see the
problem in action.

Oh just in case you meant insert->object->createfromfile,
that has the same problem as cutting and pasting from
visio into word.

I've tried a bunch of things such as removing the link,
etc. Absoultely nothing will goose word into printing
fonts inside visio objects.

Hi Doug,

From Visio use File=>Save As and select a graphic
format that Word supports such as JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP,
EMF and use the Insert=>Picture=>From File in Word
to see if you still get the problem.

If in Visio you use File=>New=>Browse Sample Drawings
and select one of the samples then copy and paste it
into Word do you get the same issue with the font
settings?

Yep, this works. No problems with visio generating
proper bitmaps or word 2002 printing them.

btw, I have access to a color printer that prints
embedded visio objects in word 2002 fine. The printer
that gives me grief is an older laserjet 4mv (and of
course acrobat 5.05)

Graham, yes that pdf opens fine in acrobat.

-----Original Message-----
I have tested the samples and they work fine here. I have returned a pdf
written from the sample document. See how you get on with that.

Hi Doug,

In the properties of the Laserjet try changing
the method used to download fonts (i.e. it may
work with fonts as graphics) or changing the
raster/vector graphics printing properties.

Solved: MS office patch

Knowledge database #815620. There is an Office patch (not
a printer patch) associated with this article. You have
to ask for the patch as it is unreleased.

Anyway, I installed the thing and all is good.

You must contact Microsoft to get the hotfix. The reason Microsoft does not
make hotfixes generally available for download is that they have not been
thoroughly tested on all possible configurations of hardware and software,
and a support person needs to discuss your specific setup with you to
determine whether you need the patch and explain how to install it.
