Visio Enterprise Architect: Enhanced for Visual Studio 2005 ???

Visio Enterprise Architect (VEA) for Visual Studio.NET 2003 is powerful for
modeling database systems however only in the ORM style of conceptual
modeling. If one chooses to use IDEF1X with VEA, you have only a drawing
tool, not a powerful Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tool. IDEF1X
is required by many corporations because of 'standards'. As nice as the idea
to change the world from using othermethods of documenting and powering CASE
tools from T.Halpin may be, changing the world from using IDEF1X isn't an
option. They just laugh at the idea of the Object Role Model (ORM) and
purchase ERwin for use. I would like to see VEA mature and offer the same
power in data modeling using IDEF1X as is is offers with ORM style modeling.
This would require the Visio engine to be enhanced to be able to perform in
this manner. This suggestion is a plea to you to make this enhancement. You
might even fing new sales of Visual Studio.NET just so that they can have a
licensed copy of an alternative CASE tool like Computer Associates' ERwin
product.

At this time Microsoft is putting its energy into creating a new modeling
tool that is tightly integrated with the Visual Studio 2005 development
environment. Visio-based software and database modeling will continue to
ship with Visual Studio 2005, but there are no significant updates planned.
