Visio Files crash while using Virtual Directory

Our group is storing Visio documents through a virtual
directory and when trying to access over the web browser
to modify Visio files, an error is received after
attempting to modify the file. Error message reads as
follows, "Microsoft Visio has encountered a problem &
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." We
initially thought this problem occurred only with Cross
Functional diagram files, but we are now encountering
issues with Org Chart files as well. These files were
also created through Visio. Although we have been
encountering issues with these files types, we are
concluding that the issue is not limited only to the files
described above.

The Internet Browser used is Internet Explorer 6.0, SP-1.
The OS is Windows 2000.

Any ideas?
