Visio Layers for Landscape Plan

I have drawn a base plan (fixed buildings, hardscape, trees) for a landscape
design. Now I wish to draw several versions of planting plans. Can I put
each version of a planting plan in a separate layer over the base plan and
then just switch between which layer is visible in order to compare and
decide on the final planting plan.

So far I cannot figure out how to do it, since plants as a object type are
already in the plants or new plants layers.

sure that works, you can also put it as a background page and use different
plantings on foreground pages.
