where they are stored depends on what version of visio you have installed.
they are stored in stencils, so a search for file type of .vss should find
them for you. most desktop icons are bitmaps which is a binary image vs. the
vector image that visio uses internal so you would have to save the visio
drawing as a bmp or jpg image.
