Visio text printing - letters cut off

K

KB

On most of my drawings, particularly org charts or simple flow charts, the
text prints with a thin sliver missing from the right side.

I have had this problem in Visio 2000 and 2003, with and without sp1,2,3 and
with and without various Windows OS sp levels on multiple PC's. I've tried it
from Windows 2000 PC's, on different brands an models of printers, using
different emulations (HP laser, Lexmark laser, Xerox Phaser) using PCL5, PCL6
etc.

I've tried embedding the fonts, using different fonts, and switching between
porttrait and landscape. Nothing solves this problem!

Any ideas? I'm going to have to abandon Visio if I can't resolve this, since
the text is so consistently bad.

Thanks for any help or ideas!

I have the same problem when I try to print word documents with embedded
Visio drawings, 100% of the time.

I am using MS Windows XP Professional Version 2002 with SP-2, MS Office Word
2003 (11.6502.6408) SP1, and MS Visio Prrofessional 2002 (10.0.525), and the
"Lexmark Optra Color 1200 PS" as my favorite "print to file" PostScript file
creator.

My older MS Windows 2000 system does not have this problem, although I use
the same version of Visio, and the same Lexmark Optra Color 1200 PS driver.

In order to generate a clean PDF file, I create the document on my new
system, move it to my old system, create a PS file, move it to my new system
and create the PDF using Acrobat Distiller. A real pain in the ***.

To the best of my knowledge, I believe that the source of the problem does
not reside in Visio, but actually in either MS Windows XP 2002 or MS Office
Word 2003 (11.6502.6408) SP1.

I too cannot continue using Visio if this compatibillity issue cannnot be
resolved.

MDM
