Vision 2003 drawing from Excel 2003 spreadsheet

Hi,
I attempting to create a block diagram of connections in Visio 2003 from
Excel 2003. I need to draw some boxes identified with certain connectors and
connector lengths. I have data in Excel 2003 spreadsheet in following format:

Module ! Size ! Dependency_1 ! Lead_time_1 ! Dependency_2 ! Lead_time_2
!....!Dependency_n ! Lead_time_n !

.... where dependency = connection between two modules (Dependnecy_n= name of
module mentioned in "Module" column);
.... and Lead_time = lenght of the connector.

With help of various postings on blogs and msdn database, I have now created
one stencil with circle as master.0. I have also linked the circle (master.0)
to the excel data. Now, when I draw the diagram, I get circles drawn for each
modules defined in the excel "Module" column. Also, each circle contains the
data specified for Module row.

However, I have not been able to get the connection between modules working.

I am sure, I am missing something....but what... I dont know. I have tried
searching various examples, but havent made any progress.

Please Heeeeeeeelp!!!

Thanks in advance,
Sharma

at a high level it sounds like you are attempting to build a time line
(gantt chart) based on data from an excel spreadsheet. What version of visio
are you at? v2007 has datalinking as a standard function in the professional
version, and built in add-ins for scheduling diagrams (both timelines and
gantt charts).
