Totally computer illiterate and although they say there are no dumb
questions, this might be the first.

Acquired an Acer Laptop for Christmas, didn't start playing with it until a
month ago (still hadn't finished screwing up my old one). As stated above,
it came installed with Windows Vista Home Premium. and a 60 day trial of some
office program that I deleted because I had no intention of buying it. Can
anyone please tell me what program I use for my everyday letter writing etc.
When I click on Microsoft Word I keep getting asked for a product key # which
I have already submitted and they accepted. But I can't use the program.

Dumb - right?

If the "some office program" that you deleted was Microsoft Office,
then you deleted Microsoft Word, which is one of the components of
Office.

You could try asking Acer if there's some way they can restore it for
you.

But even if he did this, s/he'd still have only the trial version. A better
solution might be to fall back on WordPad.
