Vista keeps crashing when I try to open 20mb spreadsheet

It's a new computer with 512mb of ram, and it opens easily on my other
older computers. Any idea why this newer operating system will not
open larger excel files?

If Vista is crashing, perhaps if you ask in that group, then they can
help you diagnose the issue through the error reports?

512mb of RAM is not sufficient to run Vista, let alone open a 20mb
spreadsheet.

A lot of confused users have referred to Excel 2007 as Excel Vista. I wonder
if Joe has this misconception. I doubt you could buy a new computer with
only half a gig of Ram.

The other day I went to a Staples (right across the street from me) to look
at a new printer. My HP Laserjet 4L that I bought in the mid 90's finally
kicked the bucket!

While I was there I asked for a ballpark price to upgrade the ram on my
*ancient* machine from 256mb ram to 2gb.

Basically, I got into a "mild" arguement with the clerk about how much ram I
needed.

I left the store with a new laser printer.
