Vista + Office 2007 + Search == XML??

I installed Office 2007 Standard last night, under Vista. Help
contents works okay, but Search returns an XML document in Word and
Excel (didn't try Powerpoint). Which is a problem, because, you know,
XML is no fun to read.

Is there some option I can select (or unselect)? Seems like a strange
default, in any case.

I don't know if this is useful, but the machine it's installed on is
not hooked up to the Internet.

Can you describe exactly how you're performing the search you indicated? Are
you searching from a file-oriented dialog box?

If you click Office (the round logo at the upper left end of the ribbon) -
Open, you can set the files to match All Word Documents (lower right corner)
and/or a variety of other things. Note that "All Word Documents" now
includes .xml files. If you want to narrow it down not to include those, set
the dropdown list to something narrower.

In Vista, also in any file dialog, if you type text into the Search field,
you'll see a list of files that contain that text in the file, the file
name, etc. If you set the type of file (bottom) to All Word Documents, then
the dialog will show only files

Thanks for responding.

I could have been clearer. I meant search within Help.

But I don't even have to search for anything. If I simply start Word,
then click on the question mark, I get xml in the righthand pane of
the window that shows up. I can see from looking at the xml content
that it's showing me something appropriate, but it's in XML.
