? Vista Patch for Office 97 Pro

A

Access97/2000

Does anyone know if Microsoft is working on a patch or solution to make
Office 97 Pro compatible with Windows Vista. I have installed Office 97 Pro
on a Laptop running Vista Home Premium, however Access doesn't run. Word,
Excel and Powerpoint seem to run okay. Microsoft's 'official' stance is that
Office 97 Pro is no longer supported and it is not currently compatible with
Vista.

No, they do not work on software that is out of mainstream and extended support. There will be no patch.

Are you getting an error message or can you expand on the steps you're taking and the user permissions when you say 'doesn't run'?

When I first tried to run Access I received a message that the file
c:/windows/system32/system.mdw was missing. I copied the file from another
computer also using Office 97 and pasted it into the c:/windows/system32/
folder. I then rebooted the computer and tried again to run Access. This
time I received an ‘out of memory’ message, however I had no other programs
running and approximately 1.5 GB of memory available. I tried to uninstall
and reinstall Office 97, however it would not uninstall after several
attempts.

How can I fix the ‘out of memory’ problem and/or otherwise get Access to run.
