Vista Profile information screwing up Access?!

Hi all

I have, until recently, had Access 2003 and 2007 installed on the same
PC, as I need to use both versions.

Following a number of crashes in Access 2003 ("Access has stopped
working...") I decided to remove Office 2003, and, in order to ensure
a clean install, remove and re-install Office 2007. All went smoothly
with the install.

However, whenever I do *anything* with any database in Access 2007, I
now get the message "The Database cannot be opened because the VBA
project contained within it cannot be read. The database can be opened
only if the VBA project is first deleted."

This happens with every database I try to open, including those
previously created in both Access 2003 and 2007. If I try to create a
new database with a single table with only a couple of fields (using
Access 2007), the moment I try to save the design of the table, I get
exactly the same error - even though there is evidently no VBA in this
database.

Trying to open these same databases in Access 2003 or 2007 on another
(any other) machine is always successful - they open without error.

I have tried removing Office 2007, manually removing the MS Office
folders that get left behind and re-installing Office again, with no
improvement.

Following a suggestion from a colleague, I have now tried creating a
new User within Vista. When I log on as that user, everything opens
successfully. Log on again as "me" and nothing works.....

Does anyone have any idea what it might be within my profile which is
leading to these problems with Access? Other Office apps all work
without problems, and I really could do without having to move all my
settings etc across to the new profile except as a last resort. If
anyone has any ideas, I'd be very grateful!!

Many thanks
Andrew Richards

Why not just "drain the swamp" and upgrade your Vita to XP?

Hmm. Thanks for the help. With it not being my laptop, I suspect the
company wouldn't be keen.

Dunno. Just very simple suggestions, delete from registry
hkey|current user|software|microsoft|office|access
and also empty all of your temp folders,
and also empty .\Application Data\Microsoft\Office
from your profile.

But I expect it is something more obscure.

The VBA project error indicates that using DAO, which does not
create a VBA project, you could create a Back End database,
but you would get the same error as soon as you open/closed it
with Access.
