visual basic class not loaded

Eric Peter

Whenever I start excel, I get this message:

Microsoft Visual Basic
Class not registered.
Looking for object with CLSID {AC9F2F90-E877-11CE-9f68-00AA0057A4F}

Clicking OK to that message, excel functions normally. I have this
error message on my personal mac and several other installations. There
is nothing (I could find) on the KB relating to this message. I tried
removing the excel prefs (and later, all the office prefs) to no success.
Also, I tried removing office X and reinstalling it. No such luck.
This error started happening after the 10.1.5 office update.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,

Please report back to the newsgroup with your findings.

Try using Disk Utility First Aid to repair permissions. See if that fixes
things.

Jim,

I did a repair permissions, and the error still appears on excel startup.
No permissions in a MS directory were modified. I have admin rights on
the machine.

I solved my own problem...By removing the Acrobat PDF maker startup vb
class, the error message went away. Not a big deal since I never will
use that functionalty - Jag has it built in the print dialogs.
