Visual SourceSafe???

Hello,

I installed the Access 2007 runtime and developer extensions on my
machine. After rebooting and starting up Access, I got a message,

"You don't have a source code control program (such as Microsoft SourceSafe)
installed on your machine. The source code control commands are therefore
not available."

Does this mean anything to me if I only intend to package and distribute a
database?

Thank you and God Bless,

Mark A. Sam

No, it just means you can't use SourceSafe. SourceSafe is a great tool for
version control. It is best used when there are multiple developers working
on the same project. It also provide good stuff like maintaining multiple
versions of the same application. For example, I once had 4 clients who
formed a consortium to develop an Access application. Most of it would be
exactly the same, but each client wanted slightly different functionality.
Using SourceSafe, I was able to have a core product and apply differences for
each client without getting confused on who gets what.

Source Safe is probably the best piece of Source control in the
market, in fact I have never lost a file. Some people have never try
it but the say that is crap, and that is probably because they want to
follow the "Microsoft is rubbish" flow ...

Come on Trev
